Nissan Altima TV Spot: “Be There” – aka – “Text Answering”
Review Nissan Text TV Spot – by Tony Bennis
A 20-something Man in warehouse loft space in the city gets a text. We don’t see it – but then he looks out the window at his shiny new Nissan Altima 2020 and appears to use his smart watch to remotely start the car.
Next we see him driving through low traffic wide streets. You can hear a powerful sounding engine along with strong background music that has a touch of suspense. Late afternoon becomes night (signifying that he’s driving a distance). An attractive woman on a motorcycle pulls up along side him and admires his car. Throughout the drive there are tech looking graphics that highlight some of the special tech features of the car. Then he pulls into a driveway in suburbs and knocks at a door.
When a man answers, the driver and recipient of the text says “Not much, how about you?”
The friend asks, “are you answering my text in person?”
He says: “I am.”
His friend says: “LOL come on in.”
The slogan with a VO comes on: “This is tech that helps you be there. Nissan Altima. Now Offering The Most Tech-Advanced Engine In Its Class.”
The spot really works on many levels. It’s a great premise. Instead of texting back to the text that was apparently, “What’s Up,” he enjoys his Nissan Altima, and all the tech features, so much – that he drives all the way over to his friend’s house to answer the text in person. It’s very entertaining, engaging, funny and humorously relatable. The spot has a great visual feel, the car is impressive looking and sounding, and the music adds another effective element.
“This is tech that helps you be there” is a cool summary of the story in the commercial. And, there’s just enough mention and graphics that you remember it’s for Nissan – and maybe even that it’s the Nissan Altima.
It’s one of those special commercials that when it comes on, you actually want to watch it again.
Here it is:
